Raja Ram Mandir Orchha: Unique temple, where police personnel salute Lord Ram daily… worship is done like a king.

Orchha Ram Raja Temple: There are many temples of Lord Rama in India, where he is worshiped as a deity. But Orchha, situated on the land of Bundelkhand, is a place where Maryada Purushottam Ram is not considered God but the king of this state. The special thing is that every day the police personnel here give them a salute (guard of honour) with weapons. Even today, the age-old tradition is alive and before starting any administrative work, the permission of King Ram i.e. his blessings is considered necessary. On the special occasion of Ram Navami, let us know about the tradition of this temple and the mythological story that makes it completely different from other temples.

worshiped in the form of a king

In this temple Lord Ram is called Ram Raja and he is considered the real ruler of Orchha. Worship in the temple is also done like that of a king, a court is organised, there are rules and regulations and the entire system runs according to royal traditions. The devotees coming here also see the Lord like a king, as if they are present in some divine court.

mythology

There is a very interesting and emotional story behind this unique temple. Queen Kunwari Ganesh of Orchha was an ardent devotee of Lord Rama. Once after a dispute with King Madhukar Shah, she resolved that she would personally bring Lord Ram from Ayodhya to Orchha. The queen reached Ayodhya and performed rigorous penance for several days on the banks of river Saryu. When Lord Rama did not appear, he jumped into the river, testing his devotion. Pleased with their unwavering devotion, Lord Ram appeared in the form of a child.

Lord Ram put two conditions before the queen to go to Orchha, he would be worshiped as a king in Orchha only. Wherever they are seated for the first time, they will become permanently established there. When the queen reached Orchha with Bhagwan, she temporarily made him sit in the kitchen of the palace. But as per God’s condition, they became stable there and did not move again. For this reason the palace itself had to be converted into a temple and today the same place is famous as Ram Raja Temple.

Police gives guard of honor

Since Lord Ram is seated here as the king, he is given a formal salute by the police every day. This tradition has been going on for years and is still followed with full devotion and discipline. Tourists and devotees from India and abroad come here to see all this.
