According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will be active in the southern peninsular and central India for 3 to 4 days due to the low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. On August 19, there is a possibility of very heavy rains in Konkan, Goa, Ghat area of Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka and Gujarat.
There will be torrential rain in these states
In many states of the country, there is a havoc of heavy rains at this time. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts in many areas today. A red alert has been issued today in Gujarat, Konkan Central Maharashtra’s Ghat area, north interiors Karnataka and parts of coastal Karnataka today. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, southern Karnataka and Kerala.
According to the Meteorological Department, the pressure area built in the northwest and west-central part of the Bay of Bengal is gradually moving towards the north-west direction. It was focused on Monday late on Monday night in about 30 km south of Odisha and about 110 km north-east from Kalingapatnam. It is likely that this pressure area will hit the coast of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh today. Due to this effect, strong winds and heavy rains will be seen in these coastal areas.

7 people died in Maharashtra so far
The rain has shown the most impact in Maharashtra. CM Devendra Fadnavis informed that 7 people have died due to continuous rains so far. More than 200 people were trapped in Nanded district, which the army’s help was taken to remove. Many Konkan rivers have reached the danger mark and Jalgaon district has also suffered heavy losses.
Order to keep school and college closed
The situation has worsened due to continuous rains in Mumbai. The city has almost stopped. For this reason, BMC has decided to keep all schools and colleges closed today. Apart from this, a holiday has also been declared in all schools and colleges in Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
