Addressing the annual legal conclave of the Congress on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi made a claim about the late former Union Minister Arun Jaitley, which the BJP reacted sharply, calling it ‘fake news’ and said that when Arun Jaitley died in 2019, how did he come to meet Rahul Gandhi in 2020?
Actually, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said during the program, “I remember when I was fighting against agriculture laws, he (Arun Jaitley) is no longer, so I should not say so but still I would say, Arun Jaitley ji was sent to meet and threaten me.”
Rahul said that Jaitley ji said to me, “If you keep going on this path, protesting against the government and fighting with us on agricultural laws, then we will have to take action against you. I replied that I do not think you are talking to whom you are talking to. We are Congressmen, are not afraid, not bend.
BJP retaliation: Rahul stays away from fake statements
The most sharp answer to this statement of Rahul Gandhi came from BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya. He wrote on X (East Twitter), ‘Fake News Alert!’
He further wrote, “Rahul Gandhi is claiming that Arun Jaitley threatened him for the agricultural laws brought in 2020. But the fact is that Arun Jaitley died on 24 August 2019, while the draft of agricultural laws was first introduced before the Union Cabinet on 3 June 2020 and these laws passed in September 2020.”
Amit Malviya further said, “In such a situation, the claim is sheer false and misleading that Jaitley ji contacted him for something. It is clear that Rahul Gandhi is once again trying to create his political story by distorting the timeline.”
Let the father’s soul live peacefully: Rohan Jaitley
Arun Jaitley’s son and Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley also sparked a sharp hit on Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. He wrote on X, “Rahul Gandhi is now claiming that my late father Arun Jaitley had threatened him with agricultural laws. I want to remind him that my father had passed away in 2019, while agriculture laws were brought in 2020. And most importantly, the most important thing is that my father was never threatening to protest any idea.
He further said, “I urge Rahul Gandhi to show some sensitivity while speaking about those who are no longer among us. He did derogatory act by linking Manohar Parrikar’s last days with politics.”

BJP MP and Union Minister Anurag Thakur also strongly attacked Rahul Gandhi. He said, “Every thing of Rahul Gandhi is a lie. Every year he cannot improve, he cannot improve. How long will the Congress do politics of lies? Arun Jaitley was a big leader. He died in 2019 and agriculture law came in Parliament in 2020. How many lies will he lie? When Jaitley ji passed in 2019, how can he meet him in 2020?
