Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is on a tour of South America. They will meet political leaders, students and business communities in 4 countries. This is part of their international contact program.
New Delhi: Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda said on Saturday that Rahul Gandhi has gone on a tour of South America. Kheda wrote on X, “Rahul Gandhi has visited South America. He will meet political leaders, university students and business community in 4 countries.” This is his new foreign tour after his last visit to America in April this year.
During the tour, Rahul Gandhi was welcomed by members of the Indian Overseas Congress at Boston Logan International Airport, in which Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda himself received him. The Congress party then posted on X, “Leader of Opposition Mr. @RahulGandhi was warmly welcomed at Boston, USA’s Boston Logan International Airport.”
Rahul Gandhi targeted Election Commission in Boston
The senior Congress leader also addressed Indian migrants in Boston, where he alleged that the Election Commission of India had “compromised.” Giving the example of Maharashtra election, Rahul Gandhi claimed that something basically was wrong in the electoral system. “More than the total number of people in Maharashtra cast votes, and this is a truth … The Election Commission gave us a figure at around 5:30 pm, and in two hours by around 7:30 pm, 65 lakh voters cast their votes, which is physically impossible …” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing the gathering. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly criticized these comments, who accused him of insulting national institutions.
The purpose of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to South America is to connect with different stakeholders including political representatives, university communities and business sector in four countries as part of his ongoing international contact program.
