Story of deceased union and Lal Bihari
In 1972, Lal Bihari, a resident of Azamgarh, was declared dead in government documents. It is said that Lal Bihari’s family members, out of greed for property, had declared Lal Bihari dead through the tehsil employees. And, their land was also grabbed. After 22 years of continuous and tough struggle, Lal Bihari finally got justice in 1994. On the orders of the court, by making corrections in the papers in the local tehsil, the administration accepted Lal Bihari as alive.
Lal Bihari had also added the word deceased before his name because, he said, during court hearings he was addressed as ‘Lal Bihari deceased is present’. During his struggle, he formed a dead union by joining people like him. Who is working to provide justice to the ‘dead’ who have been roaming alive for the last 50 years.
The interesting thing is that to prove that he is alive, Lal Bihari had also contested elections in 1989 against Rahul Gandhi’s father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. And before that another against former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh. Lal Bihari had also prepared to contest elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024. A film has also been made in Bollywood on the struggle of Lal Bihari, Kaagaz. Actor Pankaj Tripathi has played the lead role in the film Kaagaz.
If we look at it, Rahul Gandhi also had the opportunity to have tea with Lal Bihari, who fought during the Congress rule. But he did not pay attention. He did not pay attention even though he had also contested elections against his father Rajiv Gandhi.
Why are the issues of voter data manipulation not becoming serious?
At present, complaints of irregularities in the voter list are coming every day. Rahul Gandhi was raising the issue of Maharashtra only, and regarding the case study of Karnataka, he has also claimed to present evidence from his side, on which the Election Commission has also given its stand. Many cases of double voter ID have come to light from Bihar, and among such people, who can say about the common voter – the names of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha have also been included.
BJP, which is struggling with the aggressive stance of the opposition on SIR, has also started attacking Congress. BJP claims that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s name was already included in the voter list before she became an Indian citizen. BJP leader Anurag Thakur has called a press conference and alleged that the name of Sonia Gandhi, who was born in Italy, was added to the voter list in 1980, while she became an Indian citizen in 1983.
