New Delhi: With the winter season setting in, fresh seasonal vegetables like radish have begun appearing in local markets. Known for its crisp texture and health benefits, radish is a popular ingredient in Indian households — often eaten raw in salads or cooked as leafy greens. Yoga guru and Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev has now described radish as a “natural medicine” capable of curing up to 100 ailments.
In a recent video shared on his social media platforms, Baba Ramdev highlighted the immense nutritional value of radish, claiming that it is packed with Vitamin C, folate, potassium, magnesium, Vitamin B6, fibre, antioxidants, and glucosinolates — all of which contribute to better immunity and overall well-being.
According to him, regular consumption of radish for two to three months can help keep a person disease-free. “It keeps the liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, and digestive system perfectly healthy,” Ramdev said. He added that radish helps in weight control, reduces gas, balances Vata and Pitta doshas, and protects against blood pressure, diabetes, and other chronic conditions.
Calling radish a “natural fat-cutter,” Ramdev advised eating it on an empty stomach in the morning for best results, or with a pinch of salt and millet roti during meals. However, he cautioned against consuming radish at night, especially for those suffering from cold or sinus issues, due to its mixed warm-cool nature.
Ramdev concluded by saying, “Eat radish and protect yourself from diseases right from the root.”
