Radha Ashtami 2025 marks the birth anniversary of Radha Rani, the divine consort of Lord Krishna and the embodiment of unconditional love and devotion.
Celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the bright half of the month of Bhadrapada, this auspicious festival holds immense significance in Vaishnavism. Devotees believe that offering prayers and bhog on this day brings blessings of Krishna-prem, compassion, and harmony.
This year, Radha Ashtami falls on 31st August 2025, exactly 15 days after Shri Krishna Janmashtami. According to legends, when Goddess Lakshmi felt the absence of Lord Vishnu after his incarnation as Krishna, she manifested as Shrimati Radha Rani in Barsana. On this sacred day, devotees adorn Radha Rani beautifully, sing bhajans, and offer her favourite bhog to seek blessings.
Here are five special bhogs you can offer Radha Rani on Radhashtami 2025:
Dahi Arbi Ki Sabzi
Radha Rani took incarnation in Barsana, and according to tradition, Dahi Arbi ki Sabzi is her favourite dish. This unique dish made with colocasia (arbi), yogurt, and spices is not just delicious but also carries deep religious significance. Offering this to Radha Rani on her birthday is believed to bring joy and prosperity to the household.
Panchamrit
No Hindu festival is complete without Panchamrit, a blend of milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Gangajal. It is considered both Radha Rani and Krishna’s favourite offering. On Radha Ashtami 2025, preparing Panchamrit and offering it with devotion is said to purify the mind and soul while attracting divine blessings.
Malpua
According to scriptures, Lord Krishna loved the malpuas prepared by Radha Rani, making this sweet dish an essential part of the festival. Malpua, made with flour, milk, and sugar, fried in ghee and soaked in syrup, is offered as prasad to Radha Rani on this day. Devotees believe that offering malpua pleases both Radha and Krishna, inviting love and sweetness into their lives.
Rabri
A creamy sweet made with thickened milk and sugar, Rabri is another bhog that Radha Rani adores. It is also a favourite of Banke Bihari. Preparing Rabri at home and offering it to Radha and Krishna on Radhashtami is believed to bring happiness, peace, and fulfillment to devotees.
Betel Leaf (Paan)
After offering prasad, devotees traditionally offer a betel leaf (paan) to Radha Rani. As Lord Krishna is known to love betel leaves, Radha Rani too is pleased when this offering is made. It symbolises respect, devotion, and completeness of the bhog ceremony.
