Bcci new president election: Who will be the next president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be decided in a few days. After the end of Roger Binny’s term, Vice President Rajiv Shukla has taken this responsibility interim but now the new chairman is to be elected in the board. To complete this important process, voting is to be held on September 28 in the annual general meeting (AGM) of BCCI. If BCCI continues its new policy, then Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh can be the contender for this post. But both of them can also get a competition from a senior player who plays only 2 Tests.
BCCI has adopted the policy of making retired retired international cricketers president in recent times. It started in 2019 with former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who was the president till 2022. After him, the star all -rounder of the 1983 World Champion team, Roger Binny, took over this responsibility. In such a situation, if the board insists on making a former cricketer of this level as president, then once again Ganguly can contest his claim for this.
Actually, the last date for nomination for all posts, including the President of BCCI, is 21 September. According to the rules, the candidate has to nominate from a State Association to present the claim in the election. According to a cricbing report, this time all the State Association has nominated people for their AGM as representatives, only 3 former international cricketers are- Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh and Raghuram Bhatt.
Sourav Ganguly, who is nominated by the Bengal Cricket Association, has already fulfilled this responsibility. At the same time, representative of Punjab Cricket Association Harbhajan Singh is seen in this role for the first time. Similarly, Karnataka State Cricket Association has sent former Test cricketer Raghuram Bhatt. Now if the BCCI is emphasized on advancing the trend of the last 2 presidents, then there can be a collision between these three. The identity of Ganguly and Harbhajan is not hidden from anyone, but the third contender Raghuram Bhatt is not as big name. However, 67 -year -old Bhatt played 2 Test matches for the Indian team in 1983 and took 4 wickets.
