R Ashwin and CSK to part ways as veteran spinner requests franchise to release him ahead of IPL 2026

New Delhi: Veteran off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to part ways with his Indian Premier league franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the 2026 edition. As per a report in Cricbuzz, the exact reason for the differences or planned exit is not yet known but its is believed that the player has conveyed the same to the franchise.

This development comes a day after Sanju Samson requested Rajasthan Royals to release him ahead of the next edition. While Samson was set to move to CSK fulfilling the role of a wicketkeeper and batter but now it is being learnt that CSK has refused the same. The report mentions that top CSK officials and players are in the city discussing plans for the future.

The panel includes CSK veteran and former captain MS Dhoni while current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad as all the stakeholders are busy finalising the line up for the next edition of the cash-rich tournament.
