In a significant development for the people of Seemanchal and the Kosi region, the Railway Ministry has agreed to explore the feasibility of operating a Vande Bharat Express train from Jogbani to Patna via Purnia Court and Saharsa. This decision comes after Bihar’s Minister of Food and Consumer Protection, Leshi Singh, wrote to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on February 19, 2025, and again on July 30, 2025, requesting the introduction of this much-awaited train service.

As per the letter received from the Railway Minister on August 6, 2025, officials have been instructed to assess the operational feasibility of the proposed Vande Bharat Express route.
This train is expected to benefit seven districts – Purnia, Saharsa, Supaul, Madhepura, Araria, Kishanganj, and Khagaria – by providing a direct and efficient link to Patna.
Currently, people from these districts have to travel to Katihar to board the Vande Bharat Express to Patna. The new train will significantly reduce travel time, making it easier for students, patients, and businessmen to connect with the state capital. Minister Leshi Singh emphasised that this train is not just a mode of transportation but a symbol of hope and self-confidence for the people of the region.
