Man’s body tied up, stuffed inside drum
The body found inside the drum in Ludhiana is that of a man, police said. The legs were tied with a rope and even the neck of the man had a rope around it, they added. As investigations continue in the matter, police teams are contacting several drum manufacturers and shops around the city to find out where the drum was made and who bought it.
The body inside the drum was recovered from the Sherpur area in the city, police said. The body was wrapped in a plastic sack and ropes were tied around the man’s neck and legs, said officials.
Locals informed the police about a foul smell emanating in the area. When the police team led by Kulwant Kaur, the local police station incharge reached the spot, they found the body stuffed in the blue-coloured drum. Police sent the body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem.
The police are investigating the matter. They said that there are several injury marks on the body and that the condition of the body is also very bad. The police will also question officials of companies which manufacture drums in Ludhiana. They said that at least 42 companies in the city are involved in the manufacturing of such drums.
The SHO, Kulwant Kaur said that the body had been recovered from a drum found near Sherpur Chowk. The body has not yet been identified, he said. Police said that the body seems to be of a 35-something male. Investigations are on in the case, said the SHO. Police hoped for a breakthrough in the case soon.
