After heavy floods and continuous rains in Punjab, school-colleges will be opened for teachers only from September 8. Schools for children will open from September 9. The administration will ensure school inspection and cleanliness.
The last several decades of floods in Punjab have not only affected the common life, but have also put the education world in stoppage. From August 27, heavy rains and floods were going on in all educational institutions including school and college. Now preparations have been started to open the school from 8 September with the improvement in the weather, but the return time for children has been fixed on 9 September.
Teachers will inspect and clean school buildings from 8 September
The government has ordered that from Monday, September 8, 2025, schools will be open for teachers and staff only. Children do not need to come to school. It aims to inspect school infrastructure, ensure cleanliness and assess possible damage.

Students will return to school from 9 September
The decision to open or close the school at the district level will be decided by the local DC, especially in areas where the effect of flood or strong rains still remains. The state of cleaning, repairing and patronage of the school premises will be completed by the Principal, Teacher and Local Panchayat. After this, students will be able to return to school from 9 September 2025.
Monsoon breaks 37 years record in Punjab
This year, Punjab has received record rainfall, which recorded 37% more rainfall than the last several years. Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers were in spate and many supporting drains also came in flood conditions. In this natural disaster, 46 people died, about 1.75 lakh hectares of crop was destroyed and havoc in about 2,000 villages.
Relief in circumstances the next day according to the report of weather reform and IMD
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the intensity of rain will soon decline and this improvement is likely to continue for the next 3–4 days. The government and administration have devised a strategy to open schools, including cleanliness, inspection and safety.
