Punjab Kings donate Rs 33.8 lakh, join hands to raise funds for flood relief in Punjab

New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings have extended support to the flood victims in Punjab by donating a sum of Rs 33.8 lakh in relief funds. Punjab Kings have also joined hands with the Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India as part of their ‘Together for Punjab’ campaign to raise funds for the flood victims in the state.

Punjab has endured horrific destruction from what has been one of the worst floods that the state has faced in recent history. There has been loss of lives and devastation across multiple districts in the state. As per the Punjab government’s bulletin, at least 37 people have lost their lives in the floods, which have affected around 3.5lakh people.

Amid tragedy, the Punjab Kings have decided to come out in support of those affected in the state. Punjab Kings announced that they will be donating Rs 33.8 lakh towards the ‘Together for Punjab’ campaign, which aims to raise Rs 2 crore for the victims. Punjab Kings said the funds will be utilised to escalate evacuation efforts for stranded families across the state.

The donation will also be used in providing medical supplies, essential relief items and drinking water in the flood-affected areas. Inflatable rescue boats will be used for the operation, and the boats will continue to be used as disaster-response assets in Punjab for future tragedies.

Thousands of families have been displaced due to floods in multiple districts, while there has been a huge loss of property and livestock. Several celebrities, including popular Punjabi artists Diljeet Dosanjh, Karan Aujla and Sonam Bajwa, among others, have also come out in support of the flood victims in the state and have contributed towards evacuation efforts.
