A tragic incident in Pune has sparked outrage after a seven-month-pregnant woman, Tanisha Bhise, reportedly lost her life due to alleged medical negligence at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
Her family claims the hospital refused to admit her over a payment dispute, leading to a fatal delay in treatment.
According to reports, Tanisha, who was expecting twins, developed severe pregnancy complications, prompting her husband, Sushant Bhise, to rush her to the hospital. However, he alleges that the hospital demanded Rs 10 lakh upfront for treatment. Despite his immediate offer of Rs 2.5 lakh, medical care was allegedly denied, forcing the family to seek help elsewhere.Critical Delay Proves Fatal
Sushant, a private secretary to Maharashtra Legislative Council member Amit Gorkhe, stated that the delay in treatment cost his wife’s life. “They prioritised money over a human life. If she had received timely medical attention, she would have survived,” he said.
The family eventually transferred Tanisha to another hospital, but by then, her condition had worsened. Tragically, she succumbed to complications shortly after delivering her babies.
MLC to Raise Issue in Legislative Council
Amit Gorkhe, who attempted to intervene, revealed that even after contacting a health ministry official, the hospital refused admission. “We lost crucial time trying to find another facility. This negligence will not go unnoticed, and I will raise the issue in the upcoming legislative session,” he asserted.
Hospital Denies Allegations, Promises Internal Inquiry
Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital has denied the allegations, calling the circulating information “incomplete” and “damaging to the hospital’s reputation.” Ravi Palekar, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, stated, “We are conducting an internal investigation and will submit our findings to the state administration. Further comments will be made once the review is complete.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam confirmed that statements from the Bhise family have been recorded. “We are awaiting the findings from the government’s medical committee, and further action will be taken accordingly,” he said.
