Pune man claims he captured Pahalgam terrorists on video while making reel days before the attack, submits footage to NIA

Just days before militants launched a deadly assault on tourists at Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley on April 22, Pune-based social activist Sreejit Rameshan and his family toured the same scenic spot.

Rameshan recalled that he and his wife and two children visited Baisaran Valley on April 18, Punekar News reported.

It was only after returning to Pune that the family learned of the terror attack, which killed multiple tourists, including two from their city. “We started receiving frantic calls and messages from worried friends and relatives,” Rameshan told Punekar News. “Authorities released photos of the four suspects and we immediately began combing through our trip photos and videos,” he recalled.

Their breakthrough came when Rameshan spotted two of the alleged terrorists in the background of a video his daughter had recorded for a social media reel. Captured at 02:38 pm on April 18, the footage showed the suspects’ faces, body language and distinctive attire as they walked past the family. “The resemblance was unmistakable,” he said.

Rameshan then forwarded the video and stills to local police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), urging a thorough verification “purely in the interest of national safety”. He also underscored the alarming absence of robust security measures at Baisaran Valley despite its status as a major tourist destination.

Earlier today, new video footage from the attack day surfaced online. The video showed a man ziplining while militants attacked the Baisaran Valley. The clip further shows people running in panic as gunshots can be heard in the background.
