New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Pune, a 4-year-old girl died after the slide in the playground of her society fell on her head. The incident happened on April 7 at around 12:30 pm. The incident was reported from a posh housing society in the Hadapsar area of the city, said police.
Child was playing in ground, slide collapsed
According to a report in NDTV, the incident happened at a housing society in the Magarpatta area. The child was playing in the society playground for children, when suddenly the heavy iron slide dislodged and fell directly on her head. This resulted in heavy bleeding.
The locals who witnessed the incident, said that the injured child was immediately rushed to a private hospital nearby. However, by the time she reached the facility, she had lost a lot of blood. She died during treatment, said doctors. A pall of gloom descended on her home and also the society where she stayed.
The police have lodged a complaint in the matter. They have booked the housing society’s chairman and other committee members for negligence. They said that it was their negligence which caused the child’s death. It is alleged that the child’s father had flagged the rickety condition of the slide and asked the society to carry out maintenance work in the playground.
However, the Pune Police said that the society committee members, including the chairman, failed to act upon the complaint. No repairs were carried out in the playground, nor was the faulty swing removed, ultimately leading to this tragic accident. Investigations are on in the case.
