Escalation of India-Pakistan Tensions Following Cross-Border Attacks

This follows late evening on Thursday (May 8). Pakistan conducted drone and artillery strikes on several areas in India’s and Kashmir. Punjab and Rajasthan were also targeted.

Indian defense forces, in a quick response, shot down eight missiles aimed at several places in J&K. Indian defense forces also retaliated against the attacks in other states firmly as well.

Earlier in the day, the Indian government’s information office briefed the media. It stated that Indian military forces carried out strikes. Several air defence radars and systems were targeted across different locations in Pakistan.

“Indian response has been in the same domain with the same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an air defence system at Lahore has been neutralised.”

The reaction followed “on the night of May 7 and 8, Pakistan tried to strike a series of military targets across northern and western India.”

Pakistan’s air defense units of HQ-9 have been brought down by the military. Referring to sources, news agency ANI reported Pakistan’s air defence missile launchers were severely damaged.
