New Delhi: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) continued their juggernaut under Luis Enrique as they bagged their second successive UEFA Super Cup title after beating Aston Villa 2-1 on Wednesday.
PSG lifted back-to-back UEFA Super Cup titles after winning their second straight Champions League title earlier this year.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue scored for the Champions League holders to help them retain the UEFA Super Cup. PSG were far from their best in the UEFA Super Cup clash, but managed to do enough to get the better of Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring for PSG in the 20th minute with a stunning goal before Aston Villa equalised through Brian Madjo just before half-time. Doue put PSG ahead once again in the 61st minute after latching onto a through ball from Ousmane Dembele and scoring from a curling effort. VAR upheld his goal after an offside check as PSG won the UEFA Super Cup 2-1.
