Priyanka Chopra Is Impressed By Barrier Breaking Film Obsession, Shares Varanasi Will Be Dubbed In 200 Languages

Since making her debut in Hollywood with the ABC series Quantico, Priyanka Chopra has expanded her fan base beyond India with her international projects. The actress was a guest speaker at the ongoing Cannes Lions conference, where she spoke about how the entertainment industry didn’t seem so inaccessible thanks to films like Curry Barker’s Obsession, which is still going strong at the box office globally. Priyanka also gave some updates on her upcoming projects, including SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi and her Hollywood thriller Reset with Orlando Bloom. She also spoke about being a producer in Bollywood and Hollywood.

Priyanka Chopra on how the entertainment industry has changed

The Citadel star shared that when she got into the film industry, it was very niche. She faced a few challenges along the way, as she didn’t have connections in the industry. Priyanka shared that earlier if you wanted to get into filmmaking, you had to figure out which department to go into.

Now, the times have changed. According to a report in Variety, the actress stated that ideas have become currency and it was a wonderful time to be an entertainer. She cited the new horror blockbuster for breaking barriers and shared, “I feel like if you have an idea, shoot it, put it on YouTube, and it can become Obsession, the movie that just came out.”

How being a producer has changed Priyanka Chopra’s perspective

In India, Priyanka started her banner Purple Pebble Pictures to support new talent and open doors for them. With  , the Amazon Prime Video was her debut as a producer in Hollywood. She produced the movie alongside Anthony and Joe Russo’s AGBO, Cinestar Pictures and Big Indie Pictures.

The actress shared her advice while picking a project to produce and revealed that she follows her gut and not trends, as those might fade. A Deadline report quoted Priyanka stating, “I try to think about how it makes me feel. My favorite movies are the ones that you talk about, revisit again and have something to say about.”

Priyanka Chopra shares updates on Varanasi and Reset

Speaking about Varanasi, Priyanka said the Telugu film directed by SS Rajamouli will be dubbed in nearly 200 languages. The ambitious movie, co-starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is releasing in April 2027. The actress praised Rajamouli as she shared that the filmmaker has complete control on set. She added, “You just come as an actor in with the weight of your character, which is also really freeing as you’re not thinking about the things you would as a producer.”

For her survival thriller with Bloom, the English film   directed by Matt Smukler is going to start filming in August 2026. Priyanka is also co-producing the feature under Purple Pebble Pictures and said that she and Bloom had wanted to work together for years and then Reset came along.
