Former Roadies winner and gang leader Prince Narula says he misses the “rough, raw” tasks from his days as a contestant, recalling how the challenges in earlier seasons were more intense and physically demanding.
Speaking about his preference between the older and newer versions of MTV Roadies, Prince said he misses the format from his contestant days, when tasks were considerably more extreme.
“I miss the old Roadies, when I was a contestant. The tasks were very rough, very raw. Now, actually, the lines have come from the government that you can’t do this and that. So, we don’t keep the tasks that dangerous,” Prince said.
While acknowledging that the challenges remain demanding, he said they no longer reach the level seen during his season. Recalling one of the tasks from his time on the show, Prince said the extreme electrical-current challenges of that era would not be permitted today.
Despite the changes, he believes the show continues to offer an interesting test of contestants under pressure.
“The pressure has been the same since then. And now, there is more pressure because there will be so many gang leaders. So, who to listen to, what to do? I think people will enjoy watching that,” he said.
Prince also explained that contestants are pushed outside their comfort zones, allowing viewers to see how they respond when placed under unfamiliar and stressful circumstances.
Prince first participated in MTV India’s Roadies X2 in 2015 and emerged as the winner. He subsequently won Splitsvilla 8 and Bigg Boss 9, completing a hat-trick of consecutive reality-show victories.
From 2016 to 2018, he played Lakhan Singh Ahlawat in &TV’s Badho Bahu. He has also served as a gang leader on MTV Roadies since 2016.
