Prince Andrew arrested by UK police in connection with Epstein files scandal

New Delhi: Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III and formerly known as Prince Andrew, was on Thursday arrested by Thames Valley Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The Prince turned 66 today.

The arrest took place early this morning at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where he has been living. According to reports, unmarked police cars and plainclothes officers arrived around 8 am and searches are underway at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk, BBC reported.

Police confirm arrest

“As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The man remains in police custody at this time,” Thames Valley Police said in a statement.

While police did not name the individual, the BBC and multiple other outlets have reported that it is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright added that the force opened the investigation following a thorough assessment of the allegation, emphasizing the need to protect the integrity of the probe amid significant public interest.
