Sergio Gor Meets PM Modi: America’s new Ambassador Sergio Gor met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. Important issues like defence, trade and technology were discussed between the two. During the meeting, Gore presented a signed photo of himself and US President Donald Trump to Prime Minister Modi at the White House, on which Trump had written, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, you are great’ ‘Meaning Prime Minister, you are great.’

While sharing the picture of the meeting on social media, PM Modi wrote, ‘Pleased to meet US Ambassador Sergio Gore. I am confident that the India-America Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership will be further strengthened during his tenure.

Trump considers PM Modi a special friend – Sergio Gore
After the meeting, Sergio Gore said, President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi a great and special friend. We discussed defence, trade and technology. Besides, the importance of Critical Minerals was also discussed, which are important for both the countries. Gore also said that America gives utmost importance to the relationship with India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and new energy is being seen in the relations between the two countries under the leadership of President Trump.
Meeting with Foreign Minister and NSA
Before meeting PM Modi, Sergio Gore also met External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. In these meetings too, discussions were held on bilateral cooperation, security and technology transfer.
Tension in India-US relations due to trade war
Tension in India-US relations has increased after the US imposed 50% tariff on Indian exports. President Trump has also imposed 25% additional duty on the purchase of Russian crude oil from India. India reacted sharply and said that this action is unfair, unjust and disproportionate. However, after the recent phone conversation between PM Modi and President Trump, it is hoped that both the countries can make positive progress in trade negotiations. Both countries have resumed talks on a trade deal, although no concrete result is yet to be reached.
