Mercedes-Benz has reduced the price of Maybach GLS in India by Rs 42 lakh. Since the start of assembly in India, its price has increased to Rs 2.75 crore, but there has been no change in its features or engine.

This super-luxury SUV, which was earlier sold for Rs 3.17 crore, is now available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.75 crore. The most important thing is that despite the price being reduced, there has been no change in the features, engine or luxury standards of the car.

How did the price come down?

Import duty has reduced since assembly has started in India. Along with reduced logistics costs, the price has directly come down by Rs 42 lakh. India is the second country after the US, where the Maybach GLS is being manufactured locally. To celebrate the start of local production, Mercedes-Benz has also launched the Maybach GLS Celebration Edition priced at Rs 4.10 crore. This limited edition model has been introduced in India from 2021 in view of the strong demand for the Maybach GLS.

Despite local assembly, there are no major changes in the engine and performance. The Maybach GLS 600 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 550 bhp (22 bhp additional) and 250 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

This SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and its top speed is 250 km/h. The interior of the Maybach GLS is its biggest feature. This includes two large 12.3-inch screens, four-zone climate control, ventilated seats, electric sunblinds, separate entertainment screens for the rear seats, massage function, reclining seats and a 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system.

Post-2024 facelift, it gets a new chrome-heavy front grille, updated LED lights and 22-inch alloy wheels (23-inch optional). Talking about suspension and safety, it includes Airmatic air suspension (standard), E-Active Body Control (optional, with a special Maybach mode), Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera and Guard 360 safety package. In the Indian market, Maybach GLS competes with the top variants of Range Rover and Bentley Bentayga.
