Preparations to end traffic problem in Bengaluru, tech hub to be built outside the city

Bengaluru traffic problem

The Karnataka government is planning to develop new technology hubs outside the city to reduce the traffic problem of Bengaluru. Deputy CM D.K. Shivkumar said on Sunday that this will reduce the burden on the city and will also save the commuting time of working people. Shivakumar said that Bengaluru has one of the largest population of tech professionals in the world. About 25 lakh people. Of these, more than 10 lakh work only around the Outer Ring Road (ORR). He said, we want to reduce the travel time of people, and we have a concrete strategy for this.

On Saturday night, he met well-known industry figures Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon and venture capitalist Mohandas Pai. Shivakumar said, I told him that we will all work together for Bengaluru, and he agreed on this. This meeting took place after a social media debate in which there were allegations and counter-allegations between business leaders and state ministers. On the occasion of Diwali, both the parties wished each other and now decided to work together.

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw wrote on X (Twitter), we had a very good meeting with the Deputy CM. We have agreed on an action plan to solve infrastructure problems like roads, ORR, PRR (Peripheral Ring Road), drainage, traffic and garbage. A public dashboard will also be created regarding the progress of the projects. At the same time, Pai said, we are looking at the future with hope.

Big plan for ORR

Shivkumar told that he has big plans for the Outer Ring Road. He has instructed IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge to meet the CEOs of big companies present on ORR before the Bengaluru Tech Summit to be held on 18-20 November. Let us tell you that in the ORR area extending from Silk Board to Hebbal, there are more than 500 IT companies like Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Accenture, Wipro and big business parks like Embassy Tech Village, RMZ Ecoworld, and Manyata Tech Park. This is the reason why this area has become the most congested part of the city.

Wipro founder Azim Premji had recently suggested that CM Siddaramaiah get an expert study done on the traffic problem of ORR. He said that the company cannot open its campus for traffic due to legal reasons, but if the government wants, they are ready to fund this study.
