The Uttar Pradesh government is developing an apparel park on 175 acres in Sector-29 of Yamuna Expressway. This project will make UP an industrial hub by strengthening garment exports, women’s employment, logistics facilities and textile value chain.
Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government is working rapidly towards developing the Yamuna Expressway area as an export-oriented industrial hub. In this sequence, a modern apparel park is being developed in an area of 175 acres in Sector-29 of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA). This project will play an important role in establishing the state as a major center of garment industry.
Women’s employment and self-reliance will get a boost
Focus on social and economic empowerment
The development of the Apparel Park will create employment opportunities for women on a large scale, which will boost their social and economic empowerment. This project is in line with the industrial policy of the state government and the goal of ‘self-reliant India’. It will also strengthen the ‘Make in UP’ campaigns of the state government and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaigns of the central government.
Specially designed park for readymade garment export units
Equal focus on domestic and international markets
This apparel park being developed in Sector-29 has been specially designed keeping in mind the export units related to readymade garment manufacturing. About 100 production based units will be set up here, which will produce apparel for the domestic market as well as the international market.
Benefit of shared facilities from cluster model
The Apparel Park is being developed on a cluster model, so that industries can benefit from shared facilities and the production process can become more economical and effective.
Strategic location will give new impetus to exports
Direct connectivity to airport and expressway
The location of the Apparel Park is very strategically important. The area is directly connected to the Yamuna Expressway and is located near Noida International Airport. After the operation of the airport, export of garment products will get new momentum.
Reduction in logistics costs
Due to its proximity to Delhi-NCR, logistics costs will be reduced and exporters will get the facility of timely delivery, which is very important for the export business.
Relief to small industries from Common Facility Center
Modern infrastructure and technical support
Under the project, a common facility center will be developed in the Apparel Park. It will have facilities related to design centre, training centre, unit testing lab and quality control.
R&D and marketing support
Along with this, facilities like Research and Development (R&D) center and marketing support system will also be provided to the exporting units. The government aims to ensure that small and medium enterprises do not have to invest in separate expensive infrastructure and can use shared resources.
Emphasis on employment generation and value added manufacturing
New opportunities for local youth
The Apparel Park will generate a large number of direct and indirect employment opportunities. Local youth will get employment in areas like tailoring, design, pattern making, packaging, quality control and logistics.
Textile value chain development plan
This project is in line with the policy of the Yogi government, in which the focus has been shifted from raw material based production to value added manufacturing. There is a plan to develop the entire value chain of the textile industry in the state through Apparel Park, which will also provide indirect benefits to farmers, handloom artisans and small entrepreneurs.
New direction for the economy of Yamuna Expressway area
Uttar Pradesh has now become a state with a favorable environment for investment and industry. When this Apparel Park comes into its full form, the economic activities of Yamuna Expressway area will get new direction and momentum.
