Liverpool are ready to resist Mohamed Salah’s exit from the club as they try to keep their prize asset away from the Saudi Pro League.
According to reports, Salah has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League and could switch alliances if a concrete offer is made. However, the Reds are reluctant to let go of Salah who has cemented his legacy at the club having helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup since his move in 2017.
Salah to stay at Liverpool
Since the weekend, rumours have seen Salah linked with a move away from the club after being spotted engaging in a spat with manager Jurgen Klopp. The two were seen having an open altercation at the touchline during the West Ham game, suggesting all is not well in the Liverpool camp. Manager Klopp is already on his way out of the club having announced his departure in January while Salah has opted to keep quiet on his next move.
SPL sides had bid for Salah in the summer of 2023, but the player intended to play at the club and win more trophies. Liverpool were also determined to hold on to the player having let go Sadio Mane in the 2022 summer.
However, considering Salah’s contract expires in 2025, Liverpool could be playing hardball and could lose the Egyptian for free if they run down the contract. While there is no official new bid on the table, the Reds could take a gamble by holding on to Salah.
According to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, the Reds should sell Salah and reinvest the money in young and hungry strikers. He also suggested that Liverpool could make use of the money to address other key areas in the squad.
New potential manager Are Slot is already targeting a new centre-back while Liverpool also want a new midfielder.
Klopp’s men are next in action on Sunday when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and will look to finish on a high in the Jurgen Klopp era.
