Premier League: Brentford shock Aston Villa, Bournemouth beat 10-man Wolves as Burnley thrash Sunderland

New Delhi: After Tottenham Hotspur stunned Manchester City at the Etihad in the opening fixture on a super Saturday in the English Premier League 2025-26, Brentford, Bournemouth and  Burnley registered victories in their respective matches. Brentford shocked Aston Villa with a close 1-0 win, while Bournemouth beat 10-man Wolves 1-0. Burnley beat promoted Sunderland 2-0.

Dango Ouattara scored on his debut for Brentford to help them secure their first win of the Premier League 2025-26 season. It also marked the first win for Brentford’s new manager, Keith Andrews, who replaced Thomas Frank after the former Bees coach joined rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile, Marcus Tavernier’s deflected strike helped Bournemouth beat 10-man Wolves 1-0 after a red card to Toti Gomes.

Burnley too secured their first win of the season after beating newly-promoted Sunderland 2-0. Josh Cullen and Jaidon Anthony scored in the second half to help Burnley record their first three points as Sunderland slipped to a crushing defeat after beating West Ham 3-0 in their opening fixture in the ongoing season.
