Premanand Maharaj: Why was this world created? Premanand Maharaj told the real purpose of God’s creation

Premanand Maharaj

Devotees often ask deep questions related to life and philosophy to Saint Premanand Maharaj, who has guided millions of people around the world with his spiritual thoughts. Recently a devotee asked Maharaj ji the question which has puzzled humanity for centuries, why did God feel the need to create this world? Premanand Maharaj answered this complex question very simply but with spiritual depth. He told that this world is not a result of any compulsion, but a spontaneous act of God.

Ekoham Bahusyam

According to Premanand Maharaj, behind the creation of this universe lies God’s desire to play. Referring to the scripture Vakyekoham Bahusyam (I am one, may I become many), he said that when God felt like playing instead of being alone, He expanded Himself in the form of matter and consciousness.

He explained that the game is never played alone. Therefore, God divided himself into many forms. He himself is a player, himself a toy and also a spectator of this game. They play with themselves, follow themselves and in the end keep everything within themselves.

God’s play

While explaining the creation and destruction of the world, Premanand Maharaj gave a very beautiful example. He said that just as small children make clay houses while playing and then destroy them themselves, similarly this play of God is also a simple childish effort. This cannot be argued or questioned because it is their pleasure.

Maya and God’s will

People often ask whether God also has desires like us? On this, Premanand Maharaj made it clear that God has no personal or selfish desires. When the time of creation comes, ‘Prakriti’ or ‘Maya’ present in their heart in the form of ‘Yoga Nidra’ manifests the desire. This Maya awakens them and the cycle of creation begins.

Limit of intelligence and path of surrender

Premanand Maharaj warned that man cannot fully understand the infinite God with his limited intellect. He said that intelligence itself is a small part of nature, how can it fully measure its Creator. When a person gets tired of applying his intellect, then he understands that surrender, not logic, is the only way to reach God. When we constantly remember God, He himself comes and sits in our intellect. He can be known through this divine intelligence.
