Premanand Maharaj
Premanand Maharaj Guide to Spiritual Purity: In the video, a devotee asks Premanand Maharaj a question regarding the rules of purity. On this, Premanand Maharaj is seen explaining the real meaning of purity, its importance and its impact in life in very simple and easy words in the path of devotion. He explains that purity is not just an external ostentation, but a complete way of life, which transforms a person from within.
What is the real meaning of purity?
Premanand Maharaj says that often people limit purity only to external cleanliness or religious appearances, whereas real purity goes far beyond this. According to him, there are three main pillars of purity, purity of body, speech and mind.
purity of body
Maharaj explains that cleanliness of the body is the first step to spiritual life. After going to the toilet, it is mandatory to take bath properly, change clothes and wash hands and feet. If a person lives in an unclean state, his mind also starts getting attracted towards impure thoughts. The impurity of the body directly affects the thinking of the mind.
purity of speech
Premanand Maharaj considers purity of speech very important. He says that speaking harsh, derogatory or wrong words to someone is also a form of impurity. Speech should be such that it does not hurt the minds of others and also maintains peace within oneself.
purity of mind
According to Maharaj, purity of mind is the most difficult but most necessary. True spiritual practice is to not allow dirty, negative or disordered thoughts to come into your mind. When the mind is pure, only then is a person able to concentrate his intellect at the feet of God and experience the real joy of devotion.
importance of celibacy
Premanand Maharaj explains that celibacy is the foundation of inner purity. They call it an infallible power which makes a person strong from within. Describing the benefits of celibacy, Maharaj says that
It always keeps the person excited and energetic. Sharpens memory power. Keeps the body healthy. Eliminates negative thoughts and gives rise to positivity
food purification
Premanand Maharaj says that the state of mind is directly related to the food we eat. As is the grain, so is the mind. The manner in which the food is prepared and the condition in which it is being eaten has a direct impact on the mental state. Therefore, it is advisable to eat food that is pure, sattvik and prepared with love.
mental peace and naam chanting
Premanand Maharaj says that if a person leads a pious life and chants the name Radha regularly, he starts experiencing joy and peace from within without any external effort. This happiness does not depend on circumstances, but is linked to the soul.
Explained the power of restraint by giving my own example.
Giving the example of his life, Premanand Maharaj said that despite kidney failure and being on dialysis, he feels enthusiastic and fit. The reason behind this they give is their restraint, rules and holy lifestyle. He says that when there is discipline and purity in life, then even the toughest situations cannot break a person.
true sense of purity
In the end, Premanand Maharaj makes it clear that purity does not mean considering others as small or insignificant. True purity comes when a person tries to connect with God by keeping his body, thoughts and speech pure. This is the real path of holy life and this is the true identity of devotion.
