Premanand Maharaj
Premanand Maharaj teachings: In Hindu religion, special importance has been given to four yugas, Satyayuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparayuga and Kaliyuga. The common belief is that Kaliyuga is the most sinful, oppressive and decadent era. Whenever any wrong or inhuman incident happens in the society, people immediately say that this is Kalyug. But now the famous saint Premanand Maharaj has completely reversed this thinking. A video of his satsang is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which he is saying that there is no era more respectable and better than Kalyug.
Why is Kaliyuga labeled as ‘evil’?
In Sanatan Dharma, time is divided into four cycles: Satyayuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparayuga, and Kaliyuga. Of these four, Kaliyuga is often considered the worst and most dangerous. Whenever any such incident happens nearby, which becomes difficult to believe or which puts humanity to shame, people immediately say, “This is Kalyug.” Kalyug has, in a way, become synonymous with a ‘tyrannical’ and ‘sinful’ era. But, Premanand Maharaj ji has challenged this notion. He says that there is no era more respectable than Kaliyuga.
devotee’s question
During the satsang, a devotee asked a question to Premanand Maharaj, which was based on common belief. The devotee said, “In earlier times there was not so much sin.” On this, Premanand Maharaj turned back and asked in his unique style, “Was it you?” And then what he told about Treta Yug, which is considered to be the era of Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram, made everyone think.
Premanand Maharaj while answering the devotee’s question said
When Ram ji incarnated in Treta Yuga, there were heaps of bones of such sages, just like throwing chicken bones under the kha-kha. You would not have heard anywhere in Kalyug that a living person is eating a Mahatma.”
Premanand Maharaj further told that when Lord Ram asked the sages whose bones these were, the sages told. These are all the bones of Brahma Rishis, which demons have eaten and deposited. What will you say now…to Kalyug?”
Premanand Maharaj told that even in the Treta Yuga which we consider ideal, there was so much terror of the demons that they used to kill even the Brahma Rishis and eat them and their bones were stored. This horrific scene is not seen anywhere in Kaliyuga.
Why is this the best era?
Concluding his talk, Premanand Maharaj described the biggest and best feature of Kalyug. He said that there is a need to understand Kalyug, it is a ‘very respectable era’. The biggest reason is that in Kaliyuga, spiritual progress (i.e. salvation or attainment of God) has become very simple and accessible.

There is no era like Kalyug, what used to be achieved by doing penance for 10-10 thousand years, today it becomes achievable only by chanting the name and kirtan for 24 hours.” Premanand Maharaj’s intention is that while in Satyayuga, Tretayuga and Dwaparayuga, rigorous penance, long yagyas and complex sadhanas were required to attain Siddhi, in Kaliyuga only kirtan, chanting and remembrance of God’s name opens the path to salvation. This is the biggest boon of Kaliyuga.
