Preity Zinta recalls how she landed a screen moment with Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Armaan’

Actress Preity Zinta has recalled a memorable incident from her 2003 film Armaan, revealing how determined she was to share screen space with megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Preity, who is set to appear on the premiere episode of the 18th season of the reality game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, spoke about her admiration for the Bachchan family and her efforts to work alongside the legendary actor.

Recalling the experience, Preity said she had told director Honey Irani that she would sign Armaan only if her character had a scene with Amitabh Bachchan.

According to the actress, Irani jokingly told her that if she was so eager to work with Amitabh, she would have to “die in the scene”.

Preity’s character was shown in a coma when Amitabh’s character entered the room. However, the actress found it difficult to remain completely still because she was overwhelmed by the presence of the veteran actor.

She recalled that she was visibly shaking during the sequence and the team repeatedly told her that she was moving and affecting the scene.

The actress said the situation made her feel embarrassed as she was trying to portray someone in a coma while Amitabh Bachchan was right beside her.

Armaan, directed by Honey Irani, starred Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Preity Zinta in key roles. The film was released in 2003.

Meanwhile, Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 is scheduled to premiere on August 10 at 9 p.m. on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV. The new season will feature Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta.
