Prajwal Revanna sentenced to life imprisonment for rape of house employee

Bengaluru: The Special Court in Bengaluru has sentenced the former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna to rigorous imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life. The court convicted him in a rape case on Friday.

Before being convicted on April 1, Revanna was given an opportunity to speak in court before the announcement of the verdict. After appearing in court, Prajwal said that all this is part of a conspiracy.

“I did good work after being elected as the Member of Parliament for one term. No one accused me of rape when I was an MP. All the allegations have been made just ahead of the elections. I grew fast in politics, this was my only mistake,” Prajwal said in the court.

Breaking down in the court, Prajwal reportedly said that he had been a
bright student and a Mechanical Engineering graduate. He added that it has been six months since he has seen his parents and appealed for leniency.

Revanna highlighted that the victim did not complain about this to anyone, even her husband or kin, about the alleged rape. He said that she only came in front and complained after the videos were circulated.

As per the case, the victim, a 48-year-old woman, worked in the family’s Gannikada farmhouse in Holenarasipur, Hassan district. The woman alleged that in 2021, she was raped twice in the farmhouse and in the Bengaluru residence of Prajwal. She also alleges that the former MP recorded the incident on his mobile phone.
