Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Update: Get this service at doorstep; your account may close if you ignore

Do you have a Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana – PMJDY account? If yes, then this news is important for you. If you haven’t updated your KYC for a long time, then you don’t need to go anywhere. As per the government guidelines, this service is now being provided at your doorstep.

Banks across the country are engaged in a nationwide campaign for saturation of Financial Inclusion (FI) schemes and re-KYC in bank accounts of beneficiaries, from July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025.

As part of the campaign, banks are holding camps at Gram Panchayat (GP) level in their endeavour to provide these services at the doorstep for re-verification of KYC of existing PMJDY accounts as well as other bank accounts, opening of PMJDY accounts for unbanked adults, and enrolment under social security schemes, i.e., Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). The camps are also being utilised to create awareness about unclaimed deposits and to redress grievances.

Services at the camp

  • Re-KYC i.e., re-verification of old Jan Dhan and other bank accounts, is being done free of cost.
  • New Jan Dhan accounts are being opened for those who do not have a bank account yet.
  • You can register your name here for important schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
  • Apart from this, awareness about unclaimed deposits is being spread in these camps, and customer complaints are also being redressed.

During the first month of the campaign, 1.05 lakh camps have been conducted so far in as many GPs (covering one third of the total GPs in the country), with over six lakh PMJDY accounts opened, seven lakh plus enrollments under PMJJBY, approximately 12 lakh enrolments under PMSBY, and three lakh enrolments under APY. Re-KYC has been done in 14.22 lakh bank accounts through the camp mode.

What is PMJDY?

PMJDY is a national mission for financial inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, a basic savings & deposit account, remittance, credit, insurance, and pension in an affordable manner. Under the scheme, a basic savings bank deposit (BSBD) account can be opened in any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitra) outlet, by persons not having any other account.
