Where is Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple?
Ujjiani is also one of the Saptapuris i.e. the most ancient 7 cities mentioned in the Puranas. Presently it is known as Ujjain. Mahakaleshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is also located here. There is another ancient Shiva temple here on the banks of Kshipra river, which is known as Ranmukteshwar Mahadev. Thousands of devotees come here every day to have darshan. Special puja is also done here to get rid of debt.

There is a tradition of performing yellow puja at Ranmukteshwar Mahadev temple. It is believed that by performing this puja, even the biggest debt can be easily resolved. In this puja, things like gram dal, turmeric, jaggery etc. are tied in a yellow cloth and offered to Mahadev. As soon as you enter the temple, you will see a bundle wrapped in yellow cloth. The priest chants special mantras and performs the Peeli Puja, the effect of which is seen soon.
Raja Harishchandra got relief from debt
It is believed that this temple is even before Treta Yuga. A story related to this is also popular which is related to King Harishchandra, the ancestor of Lord Shri Ram. According to him, once King Harishchandra had resolved to donate to sage Vishwamitra and when he could not fulfill the resolution, he came to this place and worshiped the Lord. Pleased with this, Mahadev gave him the boon of being free from debt. Since then this place became famous by the name of Ranmukteshwar.
