Portland Trail Blazers’ Energy Makes It Tough For Opponents, Says Jrue Holiday

The Portland Trail Blazers showcased their resilience with a thrilling victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, ending the Thunder’s unbeaten streak.

The Trail Blazers secured a 121-119 win despite trailing by 22 points in the first quarter. Deni Avdija was instrumental, scoring 26 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and providing nine assists. Jrue Holiday contributed significantly with 22 points, including crucial free throws.

Holiday praised the team’s energy and determination, stating, “Honestly, I feel like the way that we play, the energy that we come with every game, it’s not going to be an easy night for anyone who comes in here or who plays against us.”

Portland’s ability to outscore Oklahoma City in subsequent quarters was key to their success. Jerami Grant also made a notable impact off the bench with 20 points. This victory improved Portland’s season record to 5-3. Holiday emphasized their team identity: “I think that’s part of our identity; to make it tough on teams. And it just goes to show that no matter who’s going to play or who’s going to be out there, we’re going to give you 100%.”

The Trail Blazers’ recent performances have been impressive. They defeated the Denver Nuggets before facing a setback against the Los Angeles Lakers. Avdija expressed satisfaction with how they handled adversity early in games.

Reflecting on their comeback against Oklahoma City, Avdija noted how their mindset has evolved: “Back in the day, in those moments, it will turn into 40, and it will be like a garbage-time game,” he said about overcoming early deficits. He highlighted the team’s character and aggressive mentality as crucial factors in their current success.
