Porsche start Cayenne Electric production follow debut last year

New Delhi: Porsche have officially started the production of the Cayenne Electric, marking a big milestone in the brand’s transition toward electrification while retaining maximum production flexibility. After making its debut in November 2025, the all-electric Cayenne is now rolling off the production line in Bratislava, Slovakia, made alongside combustion-engine and hybrid versions on a single, highly adaptable assembly line.

Coming with a mixed-production strategy lets Porsche respond quickly to the shifting market demand across regions, while also maintaining a uniform quality standard irrespective of the powertrain. The brand noted that the Cayenne Electric represents a decisive step in translating Porsche’s performance-led DNA into the electric era.

Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG, “Through the Cayenne Electric, we are firmly transferring Porsche’s DNA into the future, with our battery modules developed in-house, the highest levels of manufacturing quality and a production line that seamlessly combines combustion engines, hybrid systems and electric powertrains.”

He noted that it would give them the flexibility required to reliably produce best quality, “state-of-the-art technology,” and meet with each customer’s requirements across the world.

Porsche building battery from scratch a key strategy

A key to this transformation is the battery technology, with Porsche having developed the  Cayenne Electric’s battery modules entirely in-house, highlighting their push towards strengthening their skill in one of the most important EV components.

The modules are made at the newly made Porsche Smart Battery Shop in Horná Streda, about 100 kms away from the Bratislava plant. The facility made in collaboration with Porsche Werkzeugbau, lets end-to-end control on battery making, from the cell preparation and stacking up to laser welding, cooling integration and final quality checks.

The Cayenne Electric comes with a new 113 kWh high-voltage battery that will make for a driving range of 600 km. Made around large-format pouch cells and an 800-volt architecture, the system supports ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 400 kW. A standout innovation happens to be Porsche’s double-sided cooling setup, which manages battery temperatures from both above and below.

This is an industry first, targeting to improve efficiency, durability and sustained performance.

Of course, performance is still the key factor, and the Cayenne Turbo Electric makes 1,156 bhp, making it one of the most powerful production Porsche ever-made. Apart from this, the new generation also comes with the largest screen ever seen in a Porsche to date as well as a quicker and more responsive Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, along with an unprecedented amount of personalisation.

Production of the Cayenne Electric takes place at the Volkswagen Group’s Devinska Nova Ves site, which has gotten quite a lot of upgrades to accommodate electric vehicles. Porsche clearly are looking at the Cayenne Electric as a major product from them. The brand has a new CEO in the face of Michael Leiters, and this could mark a new era for the brand.
