Porsche 911 GT3 RS with Manthey kit goes around Nurburgring in amazing pace

New Delhi: Porsche 911 GT3 RS has once again proven its track pedigree, this time with the Manthey Performance Kit, as it went in 6 minute 45.389 second lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The time puts it among the fastest road-legal machines ever to go around the circuit.

The Manthey-equipped GT3 RS comes on the standard car’s very impressive performance and shaved off about four seconds due to quite a few upgrades. The kit, made in partnership with Manthey Racing, brings huge enhancements to aerodynamics, suspension and braking, and basically transforms the car into something that is closer to being something of a race car.

How Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS with Manthey kit improved pace?

One big highlight is the dramatic increase in downforce, with figures reaching up to 2,200 pounds at high speeds, aiding the car in maintaining exceptional grip through high-speed corners. The addition of semi-active suspension, upgraded brakes and track-focused tyres further improved stability and consistency over a lap, allowing drivers to push harder.

Behind the wheel was the Porsche development driver Jörg Bergmeister, who has been instrumental in getting maximum performance from the GT3 RS platform over the years. The GT3 RS continues with its naturally aspirated flat-six, yet manages to outpace far more powerful rivals with its amazing aerodynamic efficiency and chassis precision.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS lapped the track in  6 minutes and 45.389 seconds, and that makes it even faster than the standard 911 GT3 RS, which went around in 6 minutes and 49.328 seconds.

Even though it doesn’t quite eclipse the older GT2 RS Manthey record, the new time underlines Porsche’s relentless focus on incremental engineering gains. Most importantly, it does show how the European cars stack up against the American-made cars in terms of speed. In a Nürburgring battleground currently dominated by horsepower wars, the Manthey GT3 RS makes a strong case for balance, grip and aero sophistication over brute force.
