There was a political uproar over Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Numana’ statement in the winter session of the UP Assembly. SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav hit back by talking about dignity. The controversy that started over the codeine cough syrup issue has now become a political war.
Lucknow. During the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, a statement by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suddenly heated up the political atmosphere. The heated argument that started inside the House has now reached social media and political rhetoric. Not only the opposition raised objection to the use of the word ‘Numana’, but Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has also come forward openly.
Akhilesh Yadav, while reminding Chief Minister Yogi about the dignity of politics, has warned in a strict tone that people holding constitutional posts should not cross the limits of their language and behaviour. He said that no one expected that the political tussle between Delhi and Lucknow would reach this level.
Akhilesh’s direct attack on social media
While posting on his social media platform ‘X’, Akhilesh Yadav wrote that people holding constitutional posts should take care of public modesty and decorum. He sarcastically said that BJP should not bring the internal conflict within its party to the crossroads, otherwise the situation may become such that the way back may become difficult.
After this post of Akhilesh, the debate has intensified on social media. Supporters are calling it a matter of democratic decorum, while opponents are calling it an attempt to create political pressure.

Codeine cough syrup becomes the root of controversy
Actually, this whole controversy started with the issue of codeine cough syrup in the Assembly. Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, raising questions on the government, had said that in other states, strict action is being taken in this matter, whereas in Uttar Pradesh, cases are being registered only under minor sections. During this time, CM Yogi had launched a scathing attack on the opposition.
Referring to the age of the Leader of Opposition, the Chief Minister had said that at this stage he should speak the truth, but the Samajwadi Party is deliberately making him say wrong things. After this statement the uproar in the House intensified.

The taunt on Akhilesh and Rahul increased the tension
During the debate, CM Yogi had also taken a dig at SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi without naming them. He had said that there are two ‘models’ in the country – one sitting in Delhi and one in UP. Also, by mentioning the foreign trip, a dig was made at the opposition.
Akhilesh Yadav has strongly retaliated against this statement of CM Yogi by calling it against political decorum. Now it has become clear that this controversy that started within the Assembly will remain a big issue of political rhetoric in the coming days.
