For which women is Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana?
This scheme has been specially designed for those women who are going to become mothers for the first time. The government sends Rs 5,000 directly to the woman’s bank account so that she can spend wisely on doctor checkups, medicines and nutrition during pregnancy. Under the scheme, the government gives the amount in three parts so that regular care can be provided at different stages of pregnancy.
PMMVY: When do you get the money of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in 3 installments?
- First installment – Rs 1,000, is given on initial registration of pregnancy.
- Second installment – Rs 2,000, is available on completion of at least one ANM checkup and six months of pregnancy.
- Third installment – Rs 2,000, is given after completion of birth registration and first vaccination of the child.
Is PM Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana money available even after having a second child?
The major change in the scheme is that if the second child is a girl, the mother can also be given an additional Rs 6,000. Its objective is to promote daughters and reduce the burden on the family. All the money is sent directly to the woman’s bank or post office account, making the entire process transparent.

Who can take benefit of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana?
The benefit of the scheme is available only to those women whose first pregnancy occurred after January 1, 2017 and who are at least 19 years of age. Some categories are also given priority, like- SC/ST women, Divyang women, BPL families, Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries, e-Shram card holders, PM Kisan beneficiaries. Women are required to apply within 270 days of their delivery, otherwise it may be difficult to get benefits.

How to apply online?
- Go to the official portal pmmvy.wcd.gov.in.
- Upload the required documents like Aadhar Card, Bank Passbook, MCP Card etc.
- After submission the application process is completed.
How to apply offline?
Go to the nearest Anganwadi center or health center and submit the form. In which-
- Form 1A for first installment
- Form 1B for second installment
- For the third installment, fill Form 1C and submit it.
- Assistance is also provided at Anganwadi center for any problem.
