New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a 2-day visit to Israel. On Wednesday, the PM made a historical address to the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset. This is PM Modi’s second visit to the country since 2017.
His second day schedule includes a meeting with PM Benjamin Netanyahu, a visit to the Yad Vashem and an interaction with the Indian-Jewish community in the country.
Second day itinerary of PM Modi in Israel
PM Narendra Modi will visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial institution to the victims of the Holocaust, between 12:15 pm to 1 pm (IST) on Thursday. This memorial was established in 1953 by an act of the Knesset. Immediately after paying tributes to the victims of Holocaust, he will meet President Isaac Herzog of Israel.
The meeting with the President is expected to last between 1 pm to 2:10 pm. Next PM Modi is scheduled to hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, between 2:40 pm to 3:20 pm.
Following the meeting there will be exchange of Memorandums of Understandings and a press statement by both the leaders at the Hotel King David. This is expected to take place between 3:25 pm to 3:55 pm. Then PM Modi will have a brief 10-minute interaction with the prominent members of the Indian Jewish community between 4 pm to 4:10 pm. This interaction is also scheduled at the same hotel, King David.
This will be the last engagement of PM Modi in Israel. He will emplane for New Delhi at 5:50 pm this evening.
‘India committed to further consolidating ties with Israel’: PM Modi
PM Modi talking about his visit to Israel said that India is committed to “further consolidating its relationship with Israel, across many sectors, including security and the sharing of advances in artificial intelligence and quantum technology.”
He further expressed appreciation for his ‘friend’ PM Benjamin Netanyahu for welcoming him wearing an Indian attire. He said in a post on ‘X’, “Amazing! Your love for Indian attire reflects your respect for the rich culture and traditions of our country.”
Earlier the PM had addressed the Knesset and received the Medal of the Knesset. Thanking Israel for the gesture, PM Modi said, “This honour is not a tribute to an individual, but to the enduring friendship between India and Israel. It reflects the shared values that guide our two nations.”
