Punjab Flood 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit flood affected areas of Punjab today. CM Bhagwant Mann gave a message from the hospital and demanded a relief package from the Center for the farmers. The state government has already declared a compensation of ₹ 20,000 per acre.
PM modi Punjab Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state on 9 September 2025 today, amidst heavy destruction due to floods in Punjab. This is the PM’s first Punjab tour after this time flood. The entire state’s eyes are fixed on their program, especially farmers, who are now expected to have a big relief package from the central government.
CM Bhagwant Mann’s message from hospital
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann released an important message on social media before PM Modi’s visit. He wrote that he welcomes the Prime Minister, but will not be able to accompany him in flood affected areas due to poor health. Maan said -“If my health was cured, I would have given the Prime Minister myself reviewed the affected areas.”
The CM hoped that the central government would announce a special relief package to overcome this natural disaster to Punjab and farmers. He said that the loss of farmers cannot be compensated only at the state level, for this the help of the Center is necessary.

Punjab government’s relief package
- In the cabinet meeting held on 8 September, the Punjab government declared a big package for flood affected farmers.
- ₹ 20,000 per acre compensation to make up for crop loss
- “The farm, its sand” scheme – Permission to sell the sand in the floods from their fields and sell it
- 6 months relief on loan repayment
- ₹ 4 lakh compensation to families who lost their lives in floods
- Help on the loss of home and cattle
Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan attended the meeting virtually from the hospital. The Aam Aadmi Party shared his pictures, in which he was seen drip.
Farmers’ expectations from the center
Despite the decisions of the state government, farmers say that this compensation is not sufficient. Floods have also suffered heavy damage to the crops, houses and infrastructure along with the crop. Farmers are hopeful that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will declare such a package during his visit to Punjab, which will help in compensating for crop losses, repairing infrastructure and normalizing rural life.
