PM Modi’s popularity plateaus, sharp drop for NDA, suggests Mood of the Nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s performance remains the most popular leader, although his government’s performance witnessed a 10 per cent drop in the past six months, according to the August 2025 Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey.

Data suggests that PM Modi’s performance was outstanding at 58 per cent, a sharp drop of 61.8 per cent in February, the poll shows.

 As many as 34.2 per cent of responders called the Modi government’s performance in the third term so far ‘outstanding’, while 23.8 per cent of them thought it was ‘good’. However, in the previous MOTN poll in February, the percentage of people calling the government’s performance outstanding stood at 36.1 per cent, indicating a downward trend this time.

Around 12.7 per cent of people called the government’s performance average, against 12.6 per cent and 13.8 per cent of participants calling it ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ respectively.
