Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah on his 61st birthday, appreciating his unwavering dedication to national service and his strong leadership in safeguarding India’s internal security.
“He has made commendable efforts to ensure every Indian leads a life of safety and dignity. Praying for his long and healthy life,” Modi wrote on X, extending his heartfelt wishes to Shah.
Celebrations Coincide with Gujarati New Year
In Ahmedabad, Amit Shah’s birthday celebration coincided with Bestu Varas, the Gujarati New Year, bringing added joy to the occasion.
The Home Minister is hosting a traditional event at his Royal Crescent Bungalow, welcoming guests and well-wishers between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The gathering includes customary rituals and the exchange of New Year greetings.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is also expected to join Shah for the celebrations. The day holds both cultural and personal importance, combining festive cheer with political camaraderie.
Across Gujarat and several other states, BJP workers and supporters are marking the occasion with various welfare and cultural activities. These include blood donation camps, community gatherings, and cultural performances in honor of Shah’s birthday.

Inauguration of New MLA Housing Complex in Gandhinagar
Later in the day, Shah is scheduled to inaugurate a newly built MLA residential complex in Sector 17, Gandhinagar.
Constructed at a cost of ₹220 crore, the project features 216 air-conditioned 4BHK flats across 12 nine-storey towers. Each unit is equipped with modern facilities and designed to offer comfortable living spaces.
The complex also includes landscaped gardens, an auditorium, a health club, and recreation areas. Officials said tight security and logistical arrangements have been put in place for the inauguration, which coincides with Bhai Bij, the final day of Diwali festivities.
