PM Modi visits Ahmedabad crash site day after Air India disaster killed 265

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, visited the crash site where an Air India London-bound flight crashed on Thursday, June 12. After being briefed about the situation at the crash site, he proceeded to the hospital where the injured were being treated.

The Prime Minister is said to have stayed at the site for about 20 minutes to take stock of the situation, before moving to the hospital to meet with the injured. He was accompanied by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu while the Prime Minister took stock of the situation at the crash site.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, state Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi and state BJP chief CR Patil were at the Ahmedabad airport to receive the Prime Minister, where he arrived ahead of his visit.

The Prime Minister will also meet with Anjanliben Rupani, wife of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who also died in the crash.

Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Naidu will continue to monitor the situation and meet with all departments concerned, crucial to the search and rescue operation.
