Prime Minister Narendra Modi has returned to Delhi after his four -day visit to Japan and China. He met several world leaders at the SCO Summit and described it as ‘successful’.
Sco summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Monday evening after his 4 -day visit to Japan and China from 29 August to 1 September. PM Modi participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in China from 31 August to 1 September. He held bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
PM Modi posted on X, “I am fulfilling my successful journey to China. I participated in the SCO Summit and interacted with various world leaders. Emphasized India’s stand on major global issues. I am grateful to President Xi Jinping, Chinese government and people for the successful organization of this summit.”

PM Modi said in SCO Summit, action will have to be taken against terrorism
In a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, PM Modi confirmed that cooperation between New Delhi and Moscow is important for global peace, stability and prosperity. At the SCO Summit, the PM called for more action against the funding and bigotry of terrorism. Pahalgam highlighted the terrorist attack and urged the SCO to justify those countries who carry out or support across the border. The PM also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on handling SCO.
The summit discussed SCO development strategy, improvement in global rule, counter -terrorism, peace and security, economic and financial support and sustainable development. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi kept India’s approach to strengthen cooperation under the SCO structure. He emphasized three columns safety, contact, and more action on the occasion.

Narendra Modi talks with Xi Jinping
Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. The two leaders welcomed the positive speed in bilateral relations since their previous meeting in Kazan during the BRICS Summit in October 2024. Reiterated that India and China are development partners, not rival. It was agreed that differences should not be turned into controversies. The two leaders called for a stable relationship based on mutual respect, interest and sensitivity, which is important for the development of the two countries and a multi -polar world and Asia in the 21st century.
