PM Modi launched the first electric vehicle and battery plant of Maruti-Suzuki in Hansalpur, Gujarat. Now “Made In India” EV will be exported in more than 100 countries. This step is a milestone in the direction of India-Japan friendship and green mobility.

Gandhinagar, 26 August: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched Maruti-Sujuki’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV) and Lithium Ion Battery Production Unit in Hansalpur in Ahmedabad district. On this occasion, he described the friendship of India-Japan as “Made for Ich Other” and said that now “Made In India” will be written on electric vehicles running in more than 100 countries, which is a matter of pride for the countrymen.

Modi explained the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’ and said that no matter the investment of any country, but if there is production in India and Indians are sweating in it, then it is indigenous.

The Prime Minister flagged off the E-Vitara electric vehicle of Maruti and inaugurated the local hybrid battery electrode production unit at the TDSG Lithium-ion Battery Plant. He said that this step will contribute significantly towards making India a global hub of green mobility.

He reminded that in 2012, as Chief Minister in Gujarat, he had allotted land to Maruti with the vision of self -reliant India and Make in India. Today, this success has been achieved as a result of the same vision.

Modi said that India has the advantage of both democracy and demography and our skilled workforce strengthens every investor. This is the reason that Maruti-Suzuki is exporting cars made in India to many countries including Japan and now EV exports are also starting.

He said that till a few years ago, battery had to be imported, but in 2017, Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki together started the battery plant in Gujarat. Now the production of batteries and electrodes is also being done in India, which will strengthen self -sufficiency.

The Prime Minister said that mobile production has increased by 2700% and electronics production by 500% due to India’s policies. Defense production has also increased by more than 200%. He appealed to all states to adopt pro-development policies and create an easy environment for investors.

Modi said that India has started work on the semiconductor and critical mineral mission, focusing on the future industry. In the coming years, this effort will strengthen the foundation of making India developed India@2047.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that Gujarat has always followed the path of development and progress. Suzuki’s move is a new chapter in the state’s industrial journey. He said that special investment regions like Sanand and Mandal-Bancharaji are playing a big role in making Gujarat an automotive hub.

Japan-based Ambassador Ono Keachi said that the electric car in Gujarat will now go to more than 100 countries, it is a proof of a strong partnership of India-Japan.

On this occasion, T. Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India Limited R.C. Bhargava, CEO H. Tachuchi, State Government Ministers, MPs, MLAs and many officials were present.
