PM Modi Extends Vijaya Dashami Greetings, Rajnath Singh To Celebrate Dussehra With Soldiers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings on Vijaya Dashami. He said that the occasion celebrates the victory of good over evil and righteousness over falsehood.

Further, PM Modi also visited Raj Ghat to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. This year, Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti are being celebrated on the same day.

Extending greeting on Thursday, PM Modi said, “Vijaya Dashami celebrates the triumph of good and righteousness over evil and falsehood. May courage, wisdom and devotion always guide our paths. Wishing my fellow Indians a happy Vijaya Dashami.” Vijayadashami marks the end of Navratra and is celebrated as the festival of Dussehra.

PM Modi visited Raj Ghat earlier today to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. He was accompanied by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat on his birth anniversary.

Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is in Bhuj and will celebrate Dussehra and Vijayadashami with the troops. Extending his greetings on Vijayadashami, Singh called it a festival that symbolises the victory of good over evil, truth over falsehood, and righteousness over injustice. Last year, Singh celebrated Vijaya Dashami at the headquarters of an Army corps in West Bengal. He had performed the Shastra Puja there.

Singh addressed a group of soldiers at a traditional ‘Barakhana’ in Gujarat’s Bhuj on Wednesday and called on the soldiers to embrace new technologies, prioritise training and stay prepared for every challenge.

“Wars are not won by weapons alone, but by discipline, morale, and constant readiness. Embrace new technologies, make training an integral part of your routine, and prepare yourself for every situation,” he said.

“In today’s world, the force that remains invincible is the one that continuously learns and adapts to new challenges,” he added.

During his address, Singh paid rich tributes to the land of Bhuj and Kutch, describing it not merely as a geographic location but as an “emotion and a saga of courage”. Recalling the valour displayed during the 1971 war and the 1999 Kargil conflict, as well as the resilience shown in the aftermath of the 2001 earthquake, he said Bhuj exemplifies the spirit of the mythical phoenix rising from the ashes.
