PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in poll-bound Bihar today. His visit comes as part of a broader push to boost infrastructure and public services in the region. Earlier, the PMO had issued a statement saying that the Prime Minister is set to launch projects worth Rs 12,000 crore in both Bihar and West Bengal today (Friday).
PM Modi gets a rousing welcome in Bihar
The Prime Minister was greeted by large crowds as he arrived in Motihari, in the East Champaran district, in a flower-adorned, saffron-coloured open vehicle. The atmosphere was electric with chants of “Modi! Modi!” as the Prime Minister acknowledged the public with folded hands and waves.
Rs 7,200 crore projects launched
PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore across multiple sectors, including roads, railways, fisheries, IT, and rural upliftment. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CMs were present at the occasion.
Four Amrit Bharat Express trains flagged off
From the event stage at Gandhi Maidan, the Prime Minister virtually flagged off four new Amrit Bharat Express trains:
- Patna (Rajendra Nagar Terminal) to New Delhi
- Bapudham Motihari to Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi)
- Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)
- Malda Town to Lucknow via Bhagalpur
PM Modi blows the bugle ahead of Bihar Assembly polls
Addressing the rally in Motihari, PM Modi accused previous RJD-Congress governments of stalling progress. He said, “Under them, poor people couldn’t even paint their houses without being afraid. Now, the NDA has built pakka homes for lakhs.” He added, “Motihari should be developed like Mumbai. Patna like Pune. Bihar will lead Eastern India’s growth.”
PM Modi hails CM Nitish Kumar for social welfare schemes
The PM praised Nitish Kumar for raising pensions and credited Jan Dhan accounts for enabling direct transfers to women and self-help groups. During the event, Rs 1,000 crore aid was transferred to 24,000 groups.
Modi gives fresh slogans and vision of ‘new Bihar’
PM Modi gave slogans including “Bihar ka sankalp atal, NDA ke saath har pal” and “Banayenge naya Bihar, phir ek baar NDA sarkar” He said NDA’s priority was backward regions and communities, with initiatives like the Janman Yojana and aspirational district development.
Taking a swipe at RJD and other Opposition parties, Modi said, “Bihar has been protected from dynastic politics. Now we must build a Bihar with a golden future.”
