According to officials, in many cases even people who did not have agricultural land in their names were taking advantage of the scheme. Land records and farmer’s identity are being linked through Farmer ID, so that the money of PM Kisan Yojana reaches only the real farmers. Especially in new registration, now applications without farmer ID are not being accepted.

How to apply for farmer ID

The process for getting a Kisan ID may vary slightly by state, but generally includes the following steps:

1. Online Registration

Farmers can apply by visiting the official agriculture portal of their state. For example, farmers in Uttar Pradesh can apply by visiting upfr.agristack.gov.in. Apart from this, self-registration can also be done through apps like Farmer Registry UP, FCRD Service or eHastakshar.

2. Required documents

These documents are required during application:

  • Aadhar card
  • Land ownership documents (Khatauni etc.)
  • bank account information
  • recent photos

For the accuracy of the data, it is necessary for the farmer to be physically present.

3. Verification Process

The documents and information are scrutinized by the concerned department. If found correct the application is taken forward.

4. Issuance of farmer ID

After successful verification, a unique farmer ID is issued to the farmer, through which he can avail the benefits of PM Kisan and other agricultural schemes.
