PM Kisan Yojana: Great news is about to come for the farmers. The central government is considering increasing the amount of PM Kisan Yojana in the Union Budget to be presented in February 2026. Till now, farmers used to get only Rs 6,000 annually, which came in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. Now there is news that this amount can increase up to Rs 9,000 annually, that is, Rs 3,000 can be received in every installment.
Reason for increasing the amount of PM Kisan Yojana
The process of preparing the country’s budget takes a long time. The Ministry of Finance, NITI Aayog, state governments and other stakeholders come together to collect suggestions and data for each sector. Farmers have always been a priority for the government. PM Kisan makes them financially strong. Therefore the government is considering increasing its amount. Last time also there was discussion on increasing the amount, but it could not be implemented. This time the government is seriously considering increasing the scheme. It is being estimated in media reports that the amount may increase from Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,000. If the amount increases to Rs 12,000 then the installment will be Rs 4,000.
Which farmers will get the benefit of PM Kisan scheme?
- Small and medium farming families who own their land.
- Those who have cultivable land and its record is registered in the state register.
- Farmers who are not in any government job and who do not have a big business or permanent income source.
- New farmers who have recently started farming can also apply, if they are eligible.
Eligibility for PM Kisan Yojana
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- There should be ownership of the land or the right to cultivate the land.
- Government employees, pensioners or people with large businesses are not eligible.
- The same rule applies for other family members also.
How to join PM Kisan Yojana?
- Visit the PM Kisan portal of your local Panchayat or Village Secretariat or State Government.
- Keep important documents like Aadhar card, bank account details and land records ready.
- Fill and submit the online registration form on the portal.
- After verification of the application, you will get updates and approval through SMS or email.
